Assignment Details

Job Description:

    Manages the payroll function and activities related to the payroll process such as running payroll, 401(k) file, budget reports and payroll journal entry. Accurately and timely, administers the employee payroll process based on the law, established policies and timeframes, and the third-party payroll company guidelines. Enters payroll-related information such as demographic updates, wage adjustments, transfers, garnishments, terminations, etc. Reviews approved employee timesheets to assure accuracy of hours and pay, follows up with manager to educate them about errors/corrections and misinterpretations of policies/contracts. Effectively serves as the resource and liaison regarding the payroll system, i.e. timely receipt of checks and reports; software maintenance; tax table revisions, and communicating Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories needs to the payroll vendor where changes are required. Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll related items. Administers all data, policies and updates to the payroll vendor’s time management system. Assigns work to Payroll Specialist and ensures Specialist is following set policies and procedures as they relate to payroll and its processing. On a regular basis, efficiently provides management with a variety of payroll related reports. On a bi-weekly basis, provides payroll journal entry information to Finance. Serves as a resource to staff and management by providing guidance on HR/Payroll-related issues and policies, and contractual interpretations; referring complex/questionable situations to the HR Director. Responds in a timely and accurate manner to third party requests for payroll related information. Assures timely reporting and preparation of year-end information pertaining to tax obligations, such as W-2’s and life insurance over (USD)50k. Updates data regarding the employee pension plan in which current Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories employees continue to participate.


    Minimum of five years coordinating payroll processes similar to those identified in this job description. Independent decision-making and interpretation of payroll-related regulations (i.e., taxes, garnishments, deductions). Initiative to solve problems. Minimum of Associates Degree in business, finance, accounting field. Bachelor preferred. CPP a plus.


    40 Hours/Week
