Position Summary The Director of the Counseling Center is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Counseling Center programs and services, is responsible for the supervision and management of the 15 multidisciplinary staff members within the Center, is the Counseling Center budget administrator, provides counseling and psychological services to university students, and provides clinical supervision to trainees and unlicensed clinical staff.

The person in this position is responsible for the Center’s adherence to and compliance with applicable standards of practice related to counseling and psychological services (including accreditation standards, state and federal law, and professional codes of ethics).

The Director of the Counseling Center forms collaborative relationships with other departments and organizations both on and off campus to facilitate the provision of high quality and widely accessible counseling services to the diverse student body at BGSU.

The Director leads the Counseling Center team to establish strategic initiatives designed to address the mental health of the entire student body.

The Director also consults with and advises other areas of campus about matters pertaining to the mental and emotional wellbeing of the student body.Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities Direct the provision of counseling and psychological services to BGSU students* Conduct ongoing assessment of the need for counseling and psychological services* Monitor compliance with applicable accreditation standards, laws, and ethics* Allocate personnel resources appropriately* Maintain procedures related to the provision of counseling and psychological services* Ensure that all requests for services are responded to* Oversee the timely assignment of students requesting services* Implement processes for collaborative student care with FHC and other offices* Ensure adequate systems are in place to support clinicians in their workMaintain the integrity of counseling and psychological services provided by the Center* Provide clinical consultations regarding high risk students/situations* Provide ethical and legal training pertaining to confidentiality and security practices* Ensure that practices conform with all legal, ethical, and accreditation requirements* Provide clarification/interpretation of Center procedures and University policy* Maintain essential consultative relationships on and off campus* Conduct self-studies pertaining to accreditation* Respond to feedback provided by accreditation boards and external consultants* Keep apprised of literature pertaining to Counseling Center administration and practicesConduct assessment and program evaluation related to Center services and programs* Develop annual goals and objectives for the Center* Determine appropriate learning objectives related to Counseling Center programs* Develop processes for measuring the achievement of these goals and outcomes* Report of the achievement of annual goals, objectives, and learning outcomes* Revise programs and services as appropriate in response to assessment* Implement and oversee the Center’s quality assurance practices and proceduresProvide counseling and psychological services* Consultation and assessment* Individual therapy* Group therapy* Couples therapy* Outreach* Consultations with students, faculty, and staff* Emergency crisis response/intervention/consultation* Provide after-hours consultation to campus communityProvide direct administrative supervision of the professional staff members in the Center* Provide leadership in decision making and opportunities for staff consultations* Assist staff in developing professional and productivity goals* Assist staff in incorporating feedback from quality assurance review into their clinical practice* Hold staff accountable for the adherence to Center procedures and University policy* Conduct regular formal staff performance evaluation and feedback* Provide ongoing informal staff performance evaluation and feedback* Provide oversight of the administrative supervision of the trainees provided by professionalstaff membersRepresent the Counseling Center to the campus and surrounding community* Provide psychological consultation to the University CARE Team* Serve as a member of the Division of Health and Wellness leadership team* Serve as the Counseling Center spokesperson to the media as required* Collaborate with Unison Mobile Crisis Unit to provide crisis and assessment services to students* Coordinate with academic units to provide training opportunities to graduate students* Meet with outside consultants and accreditation site visitors* Actively engage with prospective donors to the Counseling Center* Represent the Counseling Center at campus/community eventsAdminister the Counseling Center budget* Determine budget priorities* Determine appropriate expenditure of Center funds* Keep Chief Health Officer apprised of financial needs of the Counseling Center* Seek appropriate revenue generation to supplement funds allocated by the UniversityProvision of supervision and training* Provide clinical supervision of unlicensed clinical staff* Weekly supervision sessions* Review of clinical documentation* Review of audio/video recorded sessions* Conduct training seminars on psychological issues* Ensure the appropriate integration of clinical and training Knowledge, Skills or Abilities * Strong leadership abilities* Strong communication skills* Direct experience in the provision of crisis intervention and consultation* Ability to demonstrate cultural and social justice competencies as a clinician and leader* Knowledge of applicable laws, rules and codes of ethics pertaining to the provision of mental health services Minimum Qualifications:Doctorate in Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology required.

Successful candidate must have Doctorate degree conferred at the time of application.

Required Experience:* 5+ years of experience providing direct clinical services as a licensed psychologist* 2+ years of experience in supervising othersPreferred experience:* 5+ years of experience in a college or university mental health service* 2+ years serving as an assistant or associate director (or equivalent) of a college or university counseling centerLicensure Requirements* Must meet all qualifications for licensure as a psychologist in Ohio and must be able to obtain licensure as a psychologist within one year of hire.SalaryFull-time, Administrative staff position available.

Administrative Grade Level 361.
