What you’ll do:

As the Bilingual Human Resources Generalist within our Utilimaster division, you will play a critical role in progressing the Human Resources systems and initiatives at our Kansas City, MO facility in the areas of recruitment and selection, benefits, compensation, and performance management.

You will also be involved with overseeing the plant’s conflict resolution activity and making recommendations to respective leaders about paths to resolution. In addition, you will be responsible for administering company compensation and benefits programs and investigating claims of policy or code of ethics violations.

  • Assisting with developing and administering company-wide HR policies, procedures, and practices
  • Maintaining compliance with applicable legal requirements
  • Responding to inquiries regarding the organization’s processes, policies, procedures, and programs
  • Collaborating with HR team members at other Shyft locations to support human resources projects and initiatives
  • Coordinating the distribution and communication of HR projects including the Associate Handbook, 401(k) Plan, healthcare, and other employee benefits
  • Resolving individual or team issues or conflicts through counseling team members and leaders
  • Identifying potential employee-relations issues and making recommendations to respective leaders that will lead to a resolution
  • Conducting thorough investigations about violation claims regarding company policies or Code of Ethics
  • Administering company compensation and benefits programs and facilitating the hiring process
  • Managing short-term disability and FMLA leave requests and claims
  • Partnering with Talent Acquisition to maintain job descriptions for the Kansas City location
  • Managing HR-related systems, including HRRequest and Reviewsnap

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • A track record of having sound judgment and making timely, and sometimes difficult, decisions
  • A history of handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
