Director, Human Resources Business Partner

Fireside Hearth and Home (FHH) is looking to add a Director of Human Resources to our team.  Since 1951, FHH has been making the fireplace selection and installation process easy by offering the best sales and service experience possible.  We’re fireplace experts focused on the latest trends, technologies and brands to offer you the best solutions.  

This HR leadership role reporting to the Senior Vice President of Fireside, will have a significant impact on the business by developing relationships across the company and positioning yourself as a credible HR business partner for the leadership team and regional HR partners.

The candidate will need to be in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area but can work part-time in the Lakeville office, part-time remotely and will need the ability to travel approximately 35% of the time. 

Qualified candidates will have bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field with 10+ years of experience as an HR business partner and at least two years of HR leadership experience.

As the Director of Human Resources, you will serve as a human resource consultant and thought leader aligning business objectives with employees and management across business units, improving structures, processes and decisions that depend on and impact people and acting as an employee champion and change agent in support of key objectives.

You will help drive further improvements in key areas:

Organization and Structure

  • Ensure skilled labor acquisition strategy and tactics are in place across the business
  • Improve organizational design as needed via capacity and skills planning

Member Engagement

  • Understand processes and inspire HR and business leaders to successfully drive action plans to improve member engagement and retain members
  • Ensure compensation systems meet market demands and performance levers

Talent Development

  • Leverage and optimize corporate and Fireside’s talent development process, tools to ensure proper development and succession planning
  • Provide development coaching for client groups for both technical and leadership skills


  • Seek out and take advantage of opportunities to streamline and automate HR transactional work across FHH to minimize waste and increase HR capacity for strategic work
  • Understand all the processes housed by HR (Talent Acquisition, Engagement, Development, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, and Compliance/Risk Management) and effectively execute the right levers and optimize for business needs.
