Delaware North has owned and operated the AAA Four Diamond rated Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite since 2002. Tenaya is an all-season resort featuring lodge rooms and cottage rooms, 50 Explorer Cabins, a rich range of recreational activities, a 10,000 square-foot luxury spa, ample meeting and event space, indoor and outdoor pools and five dining venues located on the property. It’s located just two miles from Yosemite National Park.

Responsibilities

This position will lead and direct the HR function for the Tenaya Lodge along with Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. Will be responsible for overseeing all HR functions including recruitment, development, employee programs, labor relations, compliance, training, and benefit administration.

Specifically:

  • Effectively develop, manage, monitor, and maintain Delaware Noth Human Resource programs and procedures, including recruitment, training, employee relations, and legal compliance.
  • Ensure operations are in compliance with Delaware North policies and procedures and all federal, state, and contract requirements are met.
  • Will develop in conjunction with corporate HR, strategic initiatives to establish Delaware North as a preferred employer in the industry and locale.
  • Drive a strong, effective HR business partnership with General Manager and all members of the leadership team
  • Use strong independent judgment to support balance between business needs and employee advocacy
  • Work with Senior Management team in location on HR issues and address management issues as needed.
  • Develop programs to meet development needs of leadership team including positive employee relations programs.
  • Foster and enable a culture of a business professional environment built on a platform of positive employee relations.
  • Proactively identify negative/potentially negative employee relations issues and use appropriate resources and tools to course correct to positive employee relations.
  • Implement a workplace vulnerability assessment tool and use results for strategic planning purposes when crafting location specific positive employee relations program.
  • Ensure bias for action when responding to employee concerns and strong orientation to detail when investigating those concerns.
  • Proactively partner with Corporate Human Resources as appropriate and needed when identifying challenges and/or roadblocks that could impact positive employee relations.
  • Oversee and direct the recruitment and selection process, including developing unit staffing plans, making recommendations for sourcing candidates, screening resumes, and conducting phone and/or personal interviews where applicable.
  • Oversee and direct new hire on boarding process.
  • Participate in diversity initiatives and administer compliance for Affirmative Action and Equal Employment programs.
  • Ensure that all applicable federal, state, and contract laws and requirements and other relevant HR laws, regulations, and Delaware North policies and procedures are understood and followed by management staff.
  • Determine and oversee training and development needs at the location.
  • Assist in the management Human Resource Planning process, including identification of development opportunities for managers identified as high potential.
  • Responsible for the development, training, and assessment of the HR staff in the location.
  • Maintain a general understanding of the compensation structure and wage rates for the location.
  • Ensure employees are informed and understand benefit plans and compensation structure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or related Business field preferred. 
  • Seven to nine years HR management experience with a preference for a strong background and proven results in maintaining a positive employee relations work environment.
  • Experience working in a hospitality environment is preferred.
  • Experience with HR compliance, including knowledge of Affirmative Action Reporting and other legal issues.
  • Minimum 3 years senior level experience in Human Resources working with senior level executives with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience with California labor law is preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred. Will be required within one year of hire.
