Associate Director, Human Resources Job Description SummaryThe Associate Director, Human Resources is responsible to provide HR leadership and support to two different BD Worldwide Segments in Nebraska across three different sites (Columbus – West, Columbus – East and Holdrege). The position will also partner with the HR Lead from two other sites outside of Nebraska: San Luis Potosi, Mexico and Cuautitlan, Mexico. Reporting to the Segment HR Senior Director, the position will reside at Columbus – West and will be the HR Partner to the Plant Manager and will also act as the operational HR Site Leader for approximately 1000 associates. In addition, the position will provide HR leadership across 2 additional Medical Segment sites in Nebraska (approximately additional 1500 associates). This position has key input on the design, development, introduction and/or integration of HR processes, practices, programs and initiatives that contribute to organizational success.The role is on site at the Columbus-West facility. RESPONSIBILITIES People Leadership: Lead a team of HR professionals accountable for providing HR service delivery to ensure consistent, effective, and impactful implementation of human resources practices, processes and programs that support organizational effectiveness and associate development throughout the four different locations. Organize and structure the team to ensure that all HR resources across the plants are efficiently maximized and leveraged to support important initiatives in Nebraska for the PS and MDS businesses. Select, develop, coach, mentor and guide team. Set expectations and hold team accountable for successful delivery and execution of initiatives. Identify, initiate, and implement Continuous Improvement in HR service delivery initiatives as well as Plant initiatives. Organizational Effectiveness & Development: Works with client leaders to efficiently and effectively execute all annual BD Human Resources processes for client organizations including HR Planning (Succession Planning), Performance Development & Management and Compensation. Acts as the trusted advisor of client leaders to assist them in carrying out their business and functional plans. Drives the Good Job Strategy strategic plan in partnership with respective operations leaders at the Columbus West site. Partners with HR leaders in other two sites to ensure creation and execution of action plans. Leads ID&E activities for the site. Works with Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to drive &/or lead change. Proactively leads and drives Associate Engagement and promotes Safety initiatives. Develops & conducts team development/team building strategies both proactively and when necessary to improve team performance. Presents options to managers on organizational structure, roles & responsibilities, staffing levels, matrix management, etc. Consults with clients to understand training and development needs across their functional groups, to identify trends, patterns, etc., and presents recommendations as part of organizational training needs assessment. In conjunction with Segment HR Leader, leads discussions on all decisions affecting reductions-in-force or layoffs (voluntary & involuntary) within their client organizations. Assists with the development and execution of such plans. Provides guidance to clients to objectively assess and bring to resolution employee relations issues, claims and charges. Looks for trends and root causes as opportunities to improve organizational/team and associate satisfaction. Tracks claims & charges and measures improvement. Puts measures in place to coach managers to be proactive in employee relations and avoid reactionary situations. Talent Acquisition: In partnership with the RPO, oversees talent acquisition strategy and implementation (leveraging new practices and innovative ideas to attract talent); including ensuring staffing requirements are met to meet production requirements, hiring qualified candidates, and building talent pipelines. Consults hiring managers on job offer and other conditions of offer to ensure internal and external equity and competitiveness, including relocation and expatriate assignments, where appropriate. Compensation: Consults with managers and partners with Total Rewards where appropriate on all pay-related decisions including new hire offers, merit increases, market pricing data, career-related and other such adjustments. May develop annual salary ranges for specific career paths/functions. Partner with leadership team member during annual Compensation Planning time to ensure alignment of rewards (PIP and LTI) to performance and potential, and that rewards are used as organizational levers. Performance Management: Drives and facilitates all aspects of the annual performance management and development process including coaching leaders on effective documentation practices for good and poor performance. Ensures legal compliance and provide constructive feedback to evaluator to improve quality of evaluation where necessary Other Responsibilities: May serve as Process Champion for one or more HR processes (i.e., HR Planning, Performance Management Process, Compensation Planning, Learning and Development, etc.), leading or participating on special projects for, or leading implementation of one or more HR processes. Leads special site-wide projects that arise. Understands the goal, develop and implement project process and develop and present sound proposals. May also implement selected solution. Participates and leads CI activities. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: BS/BA degree; preferably in Business Administration, HR Management Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a generalist role covering the following areas: change management, organizational effectiveness/development, policy development and administration, recruitment/selection, compensation, employment law, positive employee relations, performance management, HRIS and/or employee and management training/development Minimum of 4 years managing HR Professionals Experience supporting a diverse client group including manufacturing and non-manufacturing clients ranging from hourly operating associates to professional business functions to PhD technical associates a plus Master’s degree preferred Conversational Spanish skills preferred SPHR or PHR certification desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to effectively leverage and lead teams who reside at different sites/locations. Customer-centric mindset and actions for the function and businesses supported. Demonstrated flexibility and agility and ability to influence cross-functionally in responding to business and environmental needs and driving execution in complex, matrixed organization. Ability and desire to promote and champion a team environment. Understands how to strategically partner with key business clients. Able to effectively lead and provide impact in a structure/organization with informal accountability. Possesses key process skills such as consulting, problem-solving, evaluation/diagnosis, workshop and meeting design and facilitation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) as a tool to present a program and gain buy-in, influence a decision, and drive key analysis.
