Director of Human Resources

The Director of Human Resources will be directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resources function. The Human Resource Director will effectively plan, design, develop and evaluate human resource-related initiatives that support organizational strategic goals. The Human Resource Director will be accountable for directing the development and implementation of organizational development programs such as employee orientation and training programs, benefits plans, policies and guidelines, database management procedures, equal opportunity employment programs, employee records, and documentation policies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Annually review and makes recommendations to executive management for the development of the organization’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters
  • Maintain data of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure the organization’s compliance.
  • Maintain responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
  • Communicates changes in the organization’s personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
  • Assist executive management team in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the organization’s wage and salary program.
  • Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Consult with legal counsel as appropriate, (or as directed by the CEO), on personnel matters.
  • Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
  • Recommends, evaluates, and participates in staff development for the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at the senior director’s discretion

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to understand and relate to all levels of the company while providing support and guidance.
  • Strong leadership is necessary to drive successful collaboration.
  • Comfortability dealing with day-to-day issues and long-term impacts of decision making.
  • Ability to efficiently advise, recommend, and present requirements and solutions to problems.
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and presentation skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related degree required.
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of related experience or training.
  • A business acumen combined with attention to the human element
  • Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential
