For more information about Arkansas Tech University and the surrounding community, please visit our website at www.Atu.Edu/hr to find our “Live Here” informational resources.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supervising Human Resource staffParticipate in developing and administering University personnel policies and proceduresEnsuring compliance with State and Federal employment regulations and preparing for emerging employment lawsAdministering benefit carrier renewals and rate agreementsOrganizing annual employee benefit open enrollmentOrganizing employee training, professional development, and wellness opportunitiesWorks with University Budget Office to ensure proper employees position maintenanceOversees job vacancy announcements and hiring processes for all groups of University employeesProvides guidance regarding employee relations to supervisors, faculty, and staffCoordinate submissions of required and requested information to AR Department of Higher EducationKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesExcellent oral and written communication skillsKnowledge of federal and state regulationsAbility to handle sensitive employment relations legally and ethicallyKnowledge of Human Resources best practices and industry benchmarksKnowledge of classification and compensation requirements as a State of Arkansas AgencyAbility to recognize and uphold employee needsAbility to help develop and evaluate employment policies and proceduresServes on multiple University wide committeesResponsible for oversight of diversity initiatives, programs, and strategic outcomesMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related fieldPrevious supervisory experienceAt least ten years progressively responsible leadership and management experience in the area of human resourcesPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in business or related fieldExtensive experience in HR Director role, preferably in Higher EducationExtensive experience in Employee Benefits Administration SHRM-CP or SCP CertificationWork Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (80%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).

Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (10%).

Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions.

Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
