Director of Recruiting Job Description:

The Director of Recruiting is a critical operational role. The company can only be successful when it is fully staffed and sufficiently prepared for growth. In a high-volume hiring environment the Director of Recruiting will consistently produce qualified, hirable candidates utilizing sustainable and scalable programs and processes to meet the company’s labor force needs. This role will leverage cutting-edge sourcing techniques to discover passive candidates. The successful candidate for this position will be excited to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and fast-growing company with a proven track record of success. It is critical that the Director possesses a clear expertise of all facets of labor force planning, recruiting, selection and on-boarding processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to communicate and work well with hiring managers, candidates, sourcing partners and community and company leadership alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements effective traditional and innovative/non-traditional sourcing methods and market strategies to generate a sufficient pool of qualified and diverse candidates (i.e. website elements, e-marketing, social networking methods, etc.)
  • Collaborates with and/or trains hiring managers to screen candidates, schedule and conduct interviews, extend and negotiate written job offers.
  • Ensures a process whereby candidates are communicated with at every step of the recruiting process through on-boarding.
  • Identifies and applies best practice tools and processes in the areas of recruiting, sourcing, selection and screening
  • Ensures all aspects of our recruitment processes are carried out in accordance with employment laws and regulations
  • Implements recruitment and staffing strategies that support business objectives improve employee and business performance and gain a return on investment for the business. Provides guidance and direction to all aspects of the recruitment process including: job requisition design, sourcing, screening, compliance, and on-boarding
  • Develops and maintains successful external talent acquisition programs that build brand awareness and consistently provide a pipeline of talent
  • Helps to ensure new hires are retained by developing follow up strategies that help discover and resolve early challenges
  • Develops and maintains a vibrant employee referral system engaging all employees including new hires and candidates
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with all levels of leadership across the organization. Collaborates with HR Peers and management on effective recruitment and interviewing practices
  • Develop, implement and manage strategies that meet the company’s immediate labor force needs and build a pipeline for future needs.
  • Ensure recruiting strategies and supporting programs focus on both quality of hire (i.e., culture fit, retention, etc.) and speed of hire.
  • Create and continuously improve a recruiting process that creates an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Works closely with Director of Community Engagement and Workforce Development to fully leverage relationships in the marketplace and ensures full participation by the recruiting team
  • Continually assess, streamline and improve the efficiency of transactional activities performed in the sourcing, selection, screening and on-boarding of candidates.
  • Act as an advisor to our Senior Leaders providing functional expertise, market-related intelligence, and forecasting on employment issues and trends.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all employment marketing, job postings, and communications, and leverage social media and innovative channels to drive messaging and attraction to the company’s employment brand.
  • Ensure advertising and job-postings are engaging and effective while meeting the strategic needs of the business.
  • Leverage the company’s candidate management system, analytics and reports to ensure results.
  • Establish routine communications with all stakeholders to keep them informed about developments and results.
  • Provides direct supervision and leadership to assigned department recruiters. Establishes department and individual performance goals.
  • Establishes monitors and reports recruitment metrics that drive optimal staffing performance. Collaborate with Recruiting team and other departments to continually assess the effectiveness of recruiting tools and processes.
  • Ensure hiring needs are met with quality hires in a timely and cost effective manager.
  • Other duties as requested or required.


  • Degree in Human Resources or similar field, preferred.
  • 5 or more years’ relevant experience required, including the sourcing and placement of candidates in a large, high volume, fast paced environment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience in recruiting entry-level through management positions.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Provides direct leadership to a team of talent acquisition specialists.
