ECEI Senior Research and Policy Associate: TULSA CAMPUS

This is a Full-time position in Norman, OK posted June 8, 2021.

The Early Childhood Education Institute at OU-Tulsa is searching for a Senior Research and Policy Associate to join our team. This position is a leadership-level position Scientist-Researcher III which will serve as a Principal Investigator on assigned research projects, oversee staff on multiple research projects, and design research and evaluation grants and contracts. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Child Development, Early Childhood, Psychology, or a related field, along with extensive skills in data analysis and dissemination.

Representative duties include:

  1. Project Design. Provide leadership for the overall research design and modification of projects. Conduct relevant literature reviews and searches. Be familiar with quantitative and qualitative designs with an emphasis in at least one area. Submit projects through the proposal submission process when appropriate.

  2. Project Implementation. Implement and/or supervise data collection protocols including interviews, focus groups, classroom observations, child assessments, environmental ratings, and/or surveys.

  3. Budget Creation and Oversight. Ensure fiscal integrity of contracts, subcontracts, and grants as appropriate.

  4. Collaboration. Represents ECEI in a variety of contexts; cultivates and maintains relationships within and outside the organization.

  5. Dissemination. Prepare presentations and publications for funders/partners, refereed publications, regional and national conferences.

  6. Personnel Supervision. Supervises and supports Project Directors, Site Coordinators, Research Associates. Oversees selection and training of new employees.

  7. Record Keeping. Maintains IRB and other project-related records such as staffing, data sets, sample tracking, etc.

Education: Doctorate in Child Development, Early Childhood, Psychology or related field required.

Experience: At least two years of research experience, familiarity with early childhood settings required. At least two years of Management/supervisory experience required.

Skills: Computer, research and excellent oral and written communication skills required. Skills in analyzing data with SPSS, Stata, MPlus, R or other relevant software required. Proficiency in office software to include Access, Excel, etc. Familiar with early childhood classroom and child assessments used. Organization and problem solving skills that provide proactive solutions are expected.

Travel: Up to 5% of time; overnight to conferences and meetings as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Standard office environment and exposure. Up to 20% of this position will require mobility: moving from one room or building to another; etc. Must be able to stand for extended lengths of time in the function of scanning or faxing medical records.
