HR Specialist – Recruitment and Substitute Services (Grant-Funded)

Arlington ISD

This position is ESSER III funded and is not to extend any longer than 3 fiscal years beginning with the 21-22 school year.

ROLE AND PURPOSE: To support the human resources function of the district by assisting the Recruitment & Substitute Services team in hiring qualified candidates.

High School Diploma or GED, required.
Some completed college coursework in Human Resources (or related field), preferred.
Administrative experience, preferred.
Minimum 1 year of experience in human resources, required.
Experience may be substituted with college coursework in Human Resources.
Considerable knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Google Docs.
Ability to prioritize tasks without direction.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
Ability to work with a team to create effective strategies and meet team goals.
Review applications for processing.
Verify applications are complete including attachments.
Prepare required new hire paperwork including SOE’s, contingency letters, temporary new hire paperwork, substitute new hire paperwork, etc.
Track candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure cycle time of hire is kept to a minimum.
Ensure all necessary processes have been completed prior to hire including employment verifications, educational verifications, certification/license verifications, professiona1 references and a clear criminal background check.
Communicate effectively throughout the process with all stakeholders including the hiring manager, internal HR management, hiring managers, peers, and applicants.
Customize queries to extract information from TEAMS as requested.
Enter postings as directed into both internal and external databases for candidate attraction.
Respond to questions regarding the application and hiring process via phone, email and/or in person.
Work with candidates and external agencies to complete background checks and other pre-employment requirements.
Assist with substitute and temporary new hire orientations.
Assist with job fairs and college recruiting events.
Prepare reports and perform other related administrative duties as required and/or needed.
All other duties as assigned.
