Human Resource Generalist – Benefits & Leave Specialist

This is a Full-time position in Mayfield Heights, OH posted November 18, 2019.

The Benefit & Leave Specialist is responsible for performing HR duties in a professional and confidential manner and works closely with management in supporting the enterprise.

This position carries out responsibilities in the following areas: benefit administration, benefits policy implementation, qualifying life event and annual open enrollment, carrier invoicing and reconciliation, and benefit plan selection and implementation, and administration of ACA reporting.

This role is also responsible for all facets of leave of absence administration & ADA including FMLA, Personal Leave, Bereavement, Military, etc.

This position works with our third-party administrator, branch leaders, and the employee on coordination of all company leaves and accommodations.

Essential Functions Support overall benefits and leave strategy in support of Nesco’s culture and focus on exceptional employee experience.

Provides information to employees and carriers regarding health insurance benefits, coverage options, and enrollment processes.

Audits carriers’ records to ensure correct billing, identifies errors/issues, and submits corrections.

Processes various forms and documents between employees, branch leaders, and insurance providers such as new enrollments, addition of new dependents, changes in coverage, and benefit terminations.

Administers COBRA for group health plans for terminated employees and employees on leave.

Participates in the set-up and administration of qualifying life events and annual open enrollment for insurance benefits.

Administer leave process and respond to employee questions/issues.

Administers the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) and participates in an interactive process with employees throughout the process.

Responsible for keeping up-to-date with on-going changes to federal, state, and local labor laws to ensure compliance.

Work with the Manager of HR to select and implement new benefit products and solutions to meet the needs of the workforce.

Administers various human resource plans and procedures for the company and assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.

Conducts new employee orientation regarding new hire benefits enrollment.

Other Duties & Responsibilities Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Maintains benefit and leave documents in employee personnel files.

Administrative duties: filing, employee communication, etc.

Supports HR team with additional duties and projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.

Employee centric approach to benefits Demonstrate commitment to teamwork.

Must have the ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures in an ethical manner.

Timely follow-through and attention to detail on all projects with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.

Ability to easily adapt to changing priorities while performing job duties in stressful situations or handling complex communication.

Must be able to professionally handle sensitive information and maintain complete confidentiality.

Education and Experience Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in Human Resources or commensurate education and experience.

Preferred: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience with Benefits Administration to include medical and dental plans, health savings account, and other benefits such as life, short/long term disability, and other ancillary benefits.

HR professional certification.
