Human Resources Assistant – 3 month term

This is a Full-time position in Anchorage, AK posted September 12, 2019.

In your role as a Human Resources Assistant (HR Intern), at The North West Company (NWC), you will assist with projects related to HR compliance and policies.

The internship is designed to be both educational and practical.

In this position, the intern will learn how to take sills she or he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest and apply them in a professional setting.

Your Role:
• Review all HR owned policies;
• Deconstruct existing employee handbooks while creating individualized policies and documenting on templates;
• Synthesize policies between brands and support the creation of one Company policy where possible;
• Develop and present a proposal for future state policy review
• Interpret company policies, procedures practices;
• Organize multiple activities which require close attention to detail;
• Handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner;
• Works independently with little supervision.

Desired Skills Experience:
• Previous retail and/or procurement experience is considered an asset;
• Undergraduate degree in business or related field or working towards;
• MS Office Suite experience;
• Strong analytical and organizational skills;
• Strong communication skills;
• Ability to establish partnerships working with management and across organizational lines;
• Quality judgement and sound decision-making;
• Able to handle confidential information in a mature and professional manner;
• Analytical thinker and problem solver which includes, but not limited to, the ability to recognize trends and provide solutions.
