Objective:

To provide Human Resources leadership and direction for the Saint-Gobain Distribution Center in Plainfield, Indiana and serve as the HRBP (advisor, collaborator, advocate) to the Site Leader.

In this role you will be responsible for providing counseling to the management team on all aspects of Human Resources.

This position is also responsible for the implementation and administration of a wide range of Human Resources programs for a 125 + employee distribution center facility.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to employee relations, strategic workforce planning and execution (recruitment), employment law, compensation analysis, benefits, training and development, employee retention and compliance with all applicable laws.

In addition, the Manager will assist the Site Manager and the Corporate Human Resource team with the implementation of strategic Company HR programs and initiatives and building community relations that can benefit the site.

This position is a key member the Site Management Team in helping to achieve business goals and objectives.

Required Qualifications

Nature and Scope:

Interfaces with all employees on confidential issues, interacts with the Strategic Human Resources Business Leader and the Site Leader, outside vendors, governmental agencies, community and civic groups and temporary agencies.

Principal end Results:

  • Provide supervision and development to the HR Generalist.
  • Work with Site Management in an effort to ensure good employee morale, safe working conditions, continuous improvements to the work environment, and proper treatment of all employees.
  • Ensure adaptation of existing programs for local use and the resolution of individual employee problems which are solved within the constraints of policy and procedures.
  • Develop and Lead strategic initiatives for workforce planning and employee development.
  • Implement ongoing plans/relations with HR team/vendors to meet/exceed hiring needs for the site
  • Lead all site cyclical Saint-Gobain HR initiatives including Performance Appraisal Reviews, Open Enrollment.

    Employee Satisfaction Surveys and People Review as examples.

  • Serve as auditor for the PeopleSoft HRIS system, Kronos and all personnel records and applicable systems.
  • Manage leaves of absence and workers compensation cases and administration.
  • Ensure timely updates and compliance with all Company, federal, state, and local guidelines as they pertain to Human Resource initiatives.
  • Development and Update job descriptions as needed.
  • Conduct routine competitive wage analysis studies to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Administer HR weekly and monthly reports as assigned by site leadership and remote Management.
  • Devise an HR cross-training matrix to ensure coverage for all local HR activities at all times.
  • Responsible for updating policies, as well as attaining required legal approvals for any required changes.

    Support policy enforcement through a progressive discipline process.

  • Serve as a liaison for site, employee/retiree, program providers and/or government agencies, to ensure exchange of required information and compliance with regulations.
  • Serve as a confidential counsel for all employees.
  • Play active role in implementation of our World Class Manufacturing program.
  • Conduct ongoing employee satisfaction initiatives to secure retention of the workforce

Minimum Knowledge and skills required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Labor Relations or Behavioral Science preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Requires expertise in the Human Resources discipline with 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution center environment.

Proven knowledge and experience with software hiring platforms (ATS, RPO’s etc.).

Minimum of 4 years’ experience at the HRBP level to a site leader and the leadership team.

SPHR or PHR certification desired.

  • The ability to exercise a high degree of sound and practical business judgment in relation to HR practices is required as well as an ability to be strongly self-motivated, and to interact effectively with strong written and oral communication skills with all levels of employees.
  • Must possess integrity, honesty, and regard for fairness.
  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and take initiative.
  • High energy and visibility to work across all 3 shifts.
  • Innovative/creative skills to achieve workforce planning goals in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply relevant employment law and OSHA regulations.
  • Prior management experience and the ability to lead, coach and train.
  • A demonstrated ability to proactively analyze data, make presentations and provide solutions.
  • An advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, as well as a strong proficiency as a computer user; Kronos and Peoplesoft experience a plus
  • Travel 5%
