Human Resources Coordinator

J.B. Henderson Construction

Essential Functions

  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Assists with onboarding and conducts new hire orientation.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Assists in coordination of pre-employment drug, breath alcohol and physical testing.
  • Performs HRIS data entry/changes.
  • Reconciles benefits statements.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Assists with the performance review process.
  • Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
  • Processes unemployment insurance claims.
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the manager of HR.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee electronic files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Prepares and reviews new-employee electronic files.
  • Assists/executes event planning.

Actively engages in company s lean and continuous improvement efforts to include involved in standardization lean/continuous improvement programs and initiatives. Identify wastes and look for solutions to resolve or eliminate the waste.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required

Three to five years human resource experience required

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required

Previous construction industry experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent attention to detail/organizational skills

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point applications

Excellent Customer Service skills applied to internal and external customers

Strong Interpersonal skills

Strong written and verbal communicator

Ability to effectively prioritize tasks based on internal schedules

Ability to meet internal and customer specified deadlines

Ability to maintain high level of ethics, confidentiality and discretion

Physical Demands/Travel

This job operates in a professional office environment located at corporate office. Position is remote work eligible approximately 1 to 2 days/wk after 6 to 12 months of employment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job which may involve walking the corporate office as well as other company sites and customer locations, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee may be exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions on facility grounds. The noise level in the work environment and facility grounds can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Position requires in-person availability to conduct local new hire orientations.

This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 15 pounds.

This position occasionally drives a vehicle to run errands generally within the local Albuquerque area.
