Human Resources Coordinator

This is a Full-time position in Jackson, MS posted November 21, 2021.

The Human Resources Coordinator aids with and facilitates the human resource processes at assigned branch.

This role administers employee health and welfare plans and acts as liaison between employees and insurance providers.

This position resolves benefits-related problems and ensures effective use of plans and positive employee relations.

The Human Resources Coordinator makes certain that plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and that plan provisions are followed.

This role provides administrative support to the human resources function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS system entry.

Competencies & Essential Functions
Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.

Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
Reconciles benefits statements.
Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
Assists with processing of terminations.
Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
Assists with recruitment and interview process.

Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up communication at the end of the recruiting process.
Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the VP of HR.
Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
Files documents into appropriate employee files and maintains according record retention guidelines.
Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
Prepares new-employee files.
Processes mail.
Performs daily and weekly audit to ensure HRIS system is up to date and no outstanding items.

Works with department managers to get items complete.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, an active warehouse environment and in a sales market environment (depending on need).

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position routinely travels to warehouse locations and will encounter heavy machinery.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear to communicate with unexpected employees and vendors.

The employee is frequently required to sit at a desk; stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Frequent travel to branches in IN, KY, and MS as needed.

A large majority of time will be spent in the state of Mississippi.

Required Education and Experience
Minimum of 2 years HR related experience
HR certification preferred but not required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
