Wisconsin Center District Job Opening Human Resources GeneralistPosition Overview: Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist assists with the administration of the day-to-day functions of the HR department. The Human Resources Generalist is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the recruiting process. The Human Resources Generalist is also responsible for benefits and leave administration, maintaining paperwork, digital files, and departmental/organizational records, entry of employee information into the HRIS, processing new hire paperwork and conducting onboarding, and communicating HR policies and procedures to employees.Responsibilities:Communicates HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations to employeesComply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislationLeads the talent acquisition process for the organization to include, but not limited to posting jobs, tracking incoming applications, conducting phone interviews, arranging interviews, conducting reference checks, running pre-employment screens, and conducting onboarding sessions for new hiresManages the electronic applicant tracking systemAssists the Vice President of Human Resources to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skillsReviews, maintains and updates job descriptions for all positionsCoordinates employee events and is a member of the Employee Engagement CommitteePerforms benefits administration (new hire enrollment and annual open enrollment) in coordination with the City of Milwaukee; processes employee changes, prepares payment spreadsheets, and communicates benefits information to employeesAssists with the talent management program to include, but not limited to distributing and monitoring performance reviews, tracking disciplinary action, and updating compensation changesAdministers the Leave of Absence programs (FMLA, ADA, and personal leave) and the workers comp programEnsures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification regulationsAdministrative user within the HRIS system (ADP); enters new hire information and processes employee terminations and changes to include, but not limited to department transfers, address changes, pay rate changes, title changes, and direct deposit updatesCompiles reports from the HRIS system for departmental needs and Senior Leader requestsProcesses all incoming employee verification requests and unemployment noticesMaintains an accurate file maintenance system; correctly files employee paperwork and purges documentation in accordance with all applicable laws and regulationsProvides backup support to the receptionist; acts as the main office phone backupOther responsibilities and duties as assigned by management to ensure the effective utilization of the companys resources and to ensure customer satisfactionSkills & Qualifications:Strong project management and organizational skills in which attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects on time is essentialExceptional interpersonal skills and ability to navigate organizations to build relationships and garner support; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teamsExceptional communication skills and situational adaptability; capable of clearly conveying WCD standardsAbility to work independently and efficiently; exercise initiative, resourcefulness and good judgementMust have a working knowledge and understanding of how to apply all relevant laws and regulations relating to employment within the United StatesExcellent business writing skills, knowledge of payroll processes, and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentialityFlexible and comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work flexible and irregular hours that may vary due to functions and may include day, evening, weekends, and holidays as event calendar or deadlines dictateAbility to read, write, and speak English; perform basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide)Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written formEducation & Experience:o Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent number of years of experience o One (1) to three (3) years of experience in human resourceso Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Outlooko PHR, as identified by HRCI or SHRM-CP, as recognized by SHRMo Affiliation with the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM)o Previous experience with ADP Workforce Nowo Previous experience with a hotel, sports team, and/or convention center What We Offer:Health Benefits Medical, Dental, and $50K in Company-Paid Life are just the start!
