Human Resources Generalist

Title: Human Resources Generalist

Location: Vienna, VA

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:

Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corporation (KIC) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join a fast-paced, growing Alaskan Native Corporation family of companies. This role reports to the Human Resources Director.


  • Conduct full life cycle recruitment of technical, functional and cleared positions including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and reference checks.
  • Processing offers, new hire paperwork, benefits paperwork and onboarding personnel.
  • Perform benefits administration including processing benefit enrollments, terminations, changes, 401(k) rollovers, distributions, open enrollment and assist with employee questions.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices for payment.
  • Review and approve employee status change requests.
  • Maintain organized and complete employee personnel and benefit files.
  • Ensure compliance with USCIS form I-9 employment eligibility verification periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Complete employee off boarding process.
  • Create and maintain reports and spreadsheets via excel and cognos
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and company policies/guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain affirmative action program; file EEO-1, VETS, and other required reports annually; and maintains related records, reports, and logs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assist with FMLA process including completing forms, employee & management notifications & tracking leave allotments.
  • Assist with conducting of investigations when employee grievances, complaints or concerns are brought forth.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of recent Human Resources experience.
  • Must have experience with FLSA, FMLA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, OFCCP.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Advanced MS Office (Word, Outlook Excel, Powerpoint) and Adobe skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously and working in an environment which requires flexibility.
  • Occasional local travel within the US may be required.

Preferred Skills and Education:

  • SPHR or PHR certification or other recognized HR knowledge Certifications
  • Experience with Service Contract Act (SCA) and Davis Bacon Act (DBA) workforce
  • Understanding of Government Contracting
  • Costpoint and Cognos experience preferred
  • Bilingual Communications in English and Spanish preferred
