Human Resources (Hr) Generalist

JOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Generalist is responsible as the principal technical advisor to management on the human resources needs of the organization.

Anticipates human resources requirements and ensures a well-balanced and well-integrated staff.

All methods of practice and/or work performance shall conform to written established organization policies and procedures and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration.

Interfaces with all levels of coworkers, outside agencies and the community.

Our Ideal Candidate : The Human Resources Generalist will join the HR team in providing the expertise necessary to maintain daily Employee Relations needs while providing project support to various areas of the organization.

Areas of support include, but are not limited to, performance management, retention strategy, leave management, HR reporting, rewards and recognition, compensation, benefits, employment law, policy interpretation and other HR-related duties as assigned.

This is a hands-on position that will be involved in front-line interaction with managers and staff in communications, coaching and relationship building.

The HR Generalist will also conduct workplace investigations and field employee concerns in a face to face environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible as the technical advisor to management on the human resources needs of the organization.

Anticipates requirements and ensures a well-balanced and well-integrated staff through active succession planning.

Works with supervisors throughout the company as the first point of contact for employee relations issues and the counseling process.

Assist with recruiting, screening, testing, and interviewing potential employees.

Ensures that potential employees are properly screened.

Determines and places advertisements in appropriate media based on the job opening and the needs of the organization.

Assist with reviewing resumes and applications and conducting screening interviews of potential candidates when needed.

Maintains log of employment requisitions.

Compiles the job posting weekly for staffing requirements.

Acts as coordinator for employee training activities.

Ensures that new employees receive proper orientation by developing and conducting a comprehensive new employee orientation program.

Complete records and reports as necessary in a timely manner.

Maintains an attitude and philosophy consistent with the organization’s standards.

Oversees the operation of the Human Resources Department in the absence of the Vice President of Human Resources.

Exercises independent judgment in the performance of duties.

Works with the entire department in the administration of all employee programs.

Participates in special projects, as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of basic principles and practices of human resource administration.

Knowledge of basic statistical analysis, research and recordkeeping.

Excellent use of English spelling, vocabulary, grammar and punctuation.

Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Ability to operate modern office equipment including computer programs and software.

Ability to work well under pressure.

Ability to take initiative and be flexible and cooperative.

Ability to be accurate, timely, and discreet and maintain the confidentiality of employee information.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Ability to travel to different sites and locations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A four year degree in business administration or human resources, or the equivalent of education and experience.

Prior supervisory experience.
