Human Resources Supervisor

Overview:

The HR Supervisor performs human resources related duties at the professional level and supervises data entry staff, overseas HRMS Analyst and systems, serves as a backup for Anchorage Recruiting and assists with basic onboarding & recruiting projects and, handles employee relations items for the West coast. operations. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of communicating with individuals at all levels within the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Advises managers and supervisors of state and federal regulations and effective human resources practices with regard to employee issues.
  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Provides guidance to managers on appropriate performance management measures; assist managers in writing performance counseling forms.
  • Maintains control documents, forms, policies, and work instructions. Proposes improvements to policies, programs, and procedures to improve the effectiveness of human resources.
  • Supervises data entry staff and HRMS process for  Alaska and West coast operations.
  • Performs routine internal quality audits on HR workflows and documentation. Identifies breakdown in data and advises HR management.
  • Provides guidance to employees and management regarding the interpretation of personnel policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Manages the investigation and response for minor complaints/grievances. Supports and assists HR management with higher-level complaints/grievances.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits I-9 forms.
  • Provides necessary backup for other HR staff members to provide optimal HR support to internal and external customers.
  • Assists the Director of HR in ensuring that personnel functions conform to all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Represents the company for unemployment claims.
  • Trains HR staff on usage of software applications, workflows, and policies.
  • Organizes teambuilding events for the OD Corporate Office, such as holiday celebrations, quarterly meetings, and the annual picnic.
  • Supervises the maintenance of employee files and electronic employment data.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources management or a related field or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible general HR experience is required, of which at least 2 years contain the supervisory experience.
  • 3 years of government contracting experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have a strong understanding of all aspects of human resources and how different functions interact including benefits & compensation, staffing & recruiting, and organizational structures & development.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources.
  • Knowledge of sound techniques in all aspects of human resource management.
  • Ability to develop long-term plans and programs and to evaluate work accomplishments.
  • Ability to apply and adapt practices and techniques to the special requirements of senior management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other management staff, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access, and E-mail business software.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, organizational skills, and an ability to manage multiple complex projects at one time.

PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification desired
