This exciting role manages the US and Canada Payroll team within the People Solutions function in Takeda Business Solutions. You will be able to provide your expertise and help us build our future state model in becoming a world class payroll operations with the payroll and payroll compliance team. The purpose of this role is to partner with our key stakeholders and help us build and deliver simple and innovative solutions by unlocking the value of People Solutions for our businesses. The US and Canada Payroll Operations lead is critical to the transformation of our TBS People Solutions organization from a traditional Shared Service organization to a Global Business Solutions organization in the payroll domain. The objectives / purpose of the role: * This role will lead a US team of payroll and compliance professionals in driving a meaningful engagement for employees through the delivery of world-class bi-weekly payroll for 20k+ exempt and non-exempt employees across the US and Canada. * Implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions. ACCOUNTABILITIES: * Manages the end-to-end payroll processing in a Comprehensive Outsourced Model. * Execution of bi-weekly payroll, quarterly, and annual tax reporting. * Ensures statutory compliance across local, state and federal wage and hour laws. * Ensures SOX Compliance in partnership with internal and external auditors. * Partner with our Center of Excellence and Innovation (COEI) HR partners to understand upcoming policy and program changes on where this may impact time or payroll system changes. * Ensures our HR Time-to-Pay portal content, knowledge articles are up-to-date with relevant and informative information for our employees and business partners in a proactive manner. * Partners with our various vendors to ensure timeline and accurate processing of time and payroll along with meeting all Service Level Agreements. This includes attendance of all monthly, quarterly and ad hoc meetings to ensure a strong partnership with our vendors. * Management and monitoring of all service levels and internal metrics of success within US and Canada payroll operations. * Maintains current knowledge of applicable state and local legislation changes. * Support Tier 2 time and payroll queries (employees, HR, other) per established SLAs. CORE ELEMENTS RELATED TO THIS ROLE: * Managing and administering our programs in an efficient and effective manner, in close collaboration with our partners to ensure smooth hand-off and clear communications, while providing excellent customer service to our employees. * Partnering with IT to leverage digital tools and technology, such as ServiceNow, LiveChat or other Robots and/or Workday to deliver effective and efficient HR and Payroll services. * Deep understanding of end-to-end payroll operations including payroll * Advance all processes, practices and take a proactive approach to delivery of our solutions to our employees. * Analyze data to identify and prioritize new opportunities based on customer requirements. Interaction: * Will work collaboratively with piers in Benefits, Global Mobility, Finance, IT and TBS * Will work collaboratively with all levels of HR * Will interact with third party providers Innovation: * Continuous improvement mindset * Digital transformation, automation and bots understanding Complexity: * Pharmaceutical divisions across 50 states * 30 Legal Entities * 35+ Pay Areas EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: * Bachelor”s degree or equivalent Payroll functional experience. * A combination of 15+ years experience leading US and Canada Payroll operations and administration in a large corporate environment. * Minimum 10 years of people management experience, training, coaching and developing others. * This leadership role requires maturity, confidence, change leadership, professionalism and genuine concern for escalations or issues brought forward by team members and/or stakeholders. * Broad understanding of US and Canada government agencies and statutory and compliance rules for North America. * Ability to partner cross functionally within the organization and externally with vendor partners effectively. * Skilled at Time and Payroll solutions, preferably Workday, ADP Vantage, Kronos and CWS. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Customer centric and detail oriented. * Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel and PowerPoint capabilities. * Experience with virtual/regional and global team members. * Project management expertise and continuous improvement mindset.
