Pay range for new hires: $33.00 – $54.08 /hr.

Job Overview:

The OR Resource Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of surgical instrumentation, supply, and equipment needs for all surgical specialties. This entails reviewing the surgical schedule in advance for added cases, collaborating with the surgeons’ offices, vendors and Materials Management to ensure all necessary specialty items are available prior to the scheduled procedures. The Coordinator will work closely with the OR Charge RN and the Nurse Manager to facilitate effective communication regarding the status of preparation for upcoming cases. The Coordinator will precept current and new staff on scrubbing all specialty procedures and provide timely updates to the preference cards that provide the most accurate information for the scrub and circulator staff. The Coordinator will demonstrate effective time management in balancing coordinating responsibilities with regular CST responsibilities.

Primary Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Always follows all surgical procedures to assure adherence to all applicable guidelines and policies for sterile processes and proper instrument preparation and decontamination.
  • Efficiently adapts to new products and procedures and immediately educates co-workers on the use of new equipment.
  • Locates, operates and maintains equipment per procedures.
  • For each case scheduled, arranges and sets up unsterile as well as sterile equipment per physician’s preference card.
  • Daily provides a safe, clean and well-stocked department.
  • Assists with any specialty case by maintaining stock and ordering specialty items as indicated.
  • Daily, well in advance of need, communicates with Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse for any supply, repair and or equipment need.
  • Properly cleans, decontaminates and disposes of all used, contaminated equipment per policy.
  • Delivers equipment safely and in an organized fashion to Sterile Processing for decontamination and sterile processing.
  • Monitors all sterile qualities and indicators for instrumentation and equipment used while maintaining all sterility logs for steam, Sterrad and Steris processing.
  • The Coordinator will be responsible for working on Policies and Procedures, Preference Cards and other needed projects as assigned by the Director or Charge Nurse for the department when not engaged in cases.
  • The Coordinator will show competency with all equipment, systems or procedures that are performed within the Perioperative Services Department.
  • The Coordinator will provide assistance with any needed functions within the department. This includes, but is not limited to: Housekeeping Functions, Assisting in Sterile Processing/Instrument Cleaning, Materials Management and Room Stocking. These roles will be assigned by the Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager or Director as needed.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Current Colorado scrub tech license required
  • Current BLS certification required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years recent OR experience preferred
  • Surgery Tech NCCT preferred
