Paylocity Payroll Specialist


This is a Contract position in Saint-Petersburg, FL posted November 19, 2021.

Payroll Specialist Job Responsibilities:

Seeking experienced and motivated Payroll Specialist to maintain and process payroll for PARC staff and clients. Success in this position requires a high degree of energy, excellent organizational and time management skills, use of independent judgement and a degree of self-reliance. Experience with Paylocity Payroll Processing is required. It is expected that the candidate will have a professional demeanor, good writing and speaking skills and be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Payroll Specialist Job Duties:

· Process two bi-weekly payrolls with payroll provider, Paylocity, for approximately 350 staff and 75 clients.

· Work with staff and department managers to review and audit timecards for compliance, accuracy, and approval.

· Process manual staff and client payroll checks on an as needed basis.

· Process and maintain all wage garnishments, child support, bankruptcies, childcare and notify third parties of employee separations.

· Reconcile payroll register to payroll journal entries to ensure accuracy.

· Process stop payments and ACH reversals and prepare related journal entries.

· Reconcile payroll journal to general ledger and 941 and RT6 filings.

· Process quarterly and year end reporting to ensure accurate quarterly tax filings and annual W2 reporting.

· Review and reconcile payroll deductions for 403(b), Health and Ancillary Insurance.

· Investigate and correct payroll discrepancies and errors as needed.

· Perform compliance for escheatment of unclaimed property for payroll checks.

· Prepare work papers for external financial audit.

  • Prepare standard, and ad-hoc reporting for various payroll items such as gross payroll, total hours worked, overtime, vacation and sick accrual and other deductions on a regular and as-needed basis.

· Assist staff with questions regarding payroll and deductions

· Support Human Resources team, as necessary.

· Responsible for compliance of federal and state regulations relative to payroll processing.

· Work with accounting team on client account reconciliations and cross train with Accounts Payable to serve as backup to the position.

· Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with Paylocity Payroll.
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, able to read and understand technical forms, tax filings and financial reports.
  • Ability to work independently and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree and 1-year related experience, desired, or
  • High School Diploma, and three years related payroll and accounting experience.
