Position: Payroll and Benefits Coordinator Terms of Employment: 52 week position 40 hours per week Full family health benefits Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Summary: The Payroll Coordinator’s primary focus is the accurate input/review and processing of a Multi-state payroll and health benefits.

Qualifications: 1.

Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent preferred, high school graduate, required.

2.

Two years of experience in payroll and benefits.

3.

Demonstrate understanding of Governmental Fund accounting.

4.

Strong analytical, mathematical, and accounting skills.

5.

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills required to interact effectively with staff.

6.

High proficiency with computers, excel spreadsheets, and word processing.

7.

Possess a high level of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity 8.

Ability to organize, prioritize and work independently, as well as, schedule and produce work in a timely manner; also, ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details.9.

SAP experience.
Responsibilities: Process and balance bi-weekly payroll for employees.

Accurately monitor and correct all employee hours logged in the Time and Attendance time clock system.

Track and enter employee leave time.

Maintain hourly staff work schedules in the time clock system.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date files for all payroll and benefits information for all school district employees.

Reconcile and maintain Office of Retirement Services (ORS) information timely, as well as complete final payroll details for retiring employees.

Research errors, calculate retroactive pay, assess mid-year changes, and perform other payroll adjustments.

Conduct open enrollment periods yearly for employee insurance plans.

Ensure that all benefit plans are administered correctly in compliance with state and federal laws including: COBRA, HIPPA, FMLA, and PPACA to protect the interest of both the employer and its employees.

Maintain and file all Workers Compensation claims for district employees.

Process garnishments and Friend of the Court orders in accordance with laws regarding these deductions.

Administer all new hire, termination, and status change paperwork to ensure timely insurance changes.

Ensure accurate assignment of wages to budgetary accounts.

Distribute payroll deductions in compliance with local, state, and federal statutes.

Ensure payments of all taxes relating to payroll as well as making 403b, ORS, and Health Savings Account deposits.

Comprehensive understanding of labor and tax law.

Assist in month/year-end audit.

Reconcile payroll liability accounts.

Continually review the payroll process for streamlining and efficiencies.

Prepare and submit all local, state, and federal payroll reports.

Maintain insurance/employee data for the Affordable Care Act yearly reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned.
