Job Overview
The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to the Senior Director of Human Resources and Talent, the Senior Human Resources Manager, and the HR department as a whole.

The Payroll Coordinator is the go-to person for various employee payroll related issues and is responsible for the overall payroll functions and communication with employees for our network of schools in the Bronx, NY and Stamford, CT.
The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for guiding management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines, communicating organization values.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related business field.

Diploma/BSc/ BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field.

Master’s preferred.

Support with the implementation, system administration, and maintenance of HRIS system-Paycom, including but not limited to; Onboarding, Time Tracking, Benefits, Compensation, Performance modules, exit strategies, and outbound integrations Act as the HRIS staff support specialist for Administrators, Principals, Lead Staff, and monitor the system for problems, identify and implement corrective and prevention activities Provide data summaries for strategic planning and decision-making Prepare and uploads Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs) for mass data entry
Responsibilities
Human Resources and Compliance
Is accountable to ensure the Bronx Charter School for Excellence and Stamford Charter School for Excellence operates in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local employment legislation and regulations Conduct audits of various payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommend any corrective action Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies Evaluates reports, decisions, and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals.

Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed Assist department in completing all terminations (resignations, terminations for cause and layoffs) which includes preparing separation and severance agreements, when applicable, conducting exit interviews and handling any termination related issues
HRIS
Payroll and Compliance
Process the semi-monthly payroll for all employees using Paycom Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates Verify all overtime hours with the appropriate management personnel prior to processing payroll Conduct audits of payroll accounts to confirm accuracy and reconcile any payroll discrepancies Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns Track and monitor employee time and attendance Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
Benefits Administration & Compliance
Supports all aspects of benefits administration including working with brokers to find affordable plans and ensuring ACA and COBRA compliance Act as the company expert in all benefit plan designs and point of contact for benefit questions Coordinates health, life and disability insurance enrollments and changes during open enrollment, enrolling new hires and new participants in all benefit plans Communicates with service providers concerning routine administration of programs Manage all FMLA, workers compensation, short term disability, New York Paid Family Leave claims
Other Responsibilities
Establishes and maintains Human Resource records and reports Assist Senior Director of Human Resources and Talent and Senior Human Resources Manager with various research projects and/or special projects.

Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars.

Assist the Human Resources Department with other HR related tasks and duties as assigned.

Requirements
Requires strong, broad knowledge of HR, and Payroll functions.

Experience with multi-state payroll processing preferred Familiar with Payroll processing software; especially Paycom, G Suite (Gmail/Drive), Microsoft Teams, Office Suite & Excel At least five (5) years of experience in Human Resources Management and Payroll Excellent verbal and written communication skills High level of integrity, accountability, and adaptability Remarkable conflict resolution skills, great time management and an urgency to complete tasks and offer support to all staff members are essential
