Payroll Specialist

This is a Contract position in East Greenwich, RI posted June 7, 2021.

Job is currently 100% remote; Long term will be partially work from home and partially in-office!

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly company payroll for approximately 600 US employees in compliance with federal, state and local wage laws using Ceridian Dayforce system.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience required.
  • Experience using Ceridian Dayforce payroll system preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of federal and state wage & hour laws, timekeeping, and payroll regulations.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications including advanced Excel skills (V-lookup and Pivot tables).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and time management skills.

Job Requirements:

  • Process payroll accurately and timely for all employees.  
  • Prepare state and local registrations and ensure accurate setup payroll taxes.
  • Run various payroll audit reports on monthly basis.
  • Manage 401(k) auto enrollment, deferral changes, company match and weekly contribution file processing.  Assist with annual 401k nondiscrimination testing and 5500 filing audit.
  • Serve as a member of 401(k) retirement plan committee.
  • Prepare payroll Journal Entries for the General Ledger.
  • Manage the billing/payment process for Voluntary benefit plans and Life and Disability plans.
  • Ensure company compliance with wage and hour laws, including FLSA; payroll taxes, state-specific final pay laws; and other applicable payroll regulations.
  • Manage year end payroll process and distribution of year-end tax forms.
  • Create and maintain payroll processing workflows, procedures, etc.
  • Respond to employee payroll-related questions/inquiries.   
  • Assist with other activities as needed.
