Recruiter and Community Engagement Specialist

Northwestern Mutual Upstate, SC

This is a Contract position in Asheville, NC posted February 22, 2021.

The Recruiter and Community Engagement Specialist role provides support for all recruiting and community engagement efforts in the Asheville Office of the Tripoli District of Northwestern Mutual. This position involves performing functions that allow the leadership team to efficiently attract, recruit, select and contract financial representatives with internship program and full-time career opportunity. The Recruiter and Community Engagement Specialist has an overall understanding of recruitment and selection process. This position requires a high degree of organization, attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals. This role will partner with the Executive Director of Recruitment for the Tripoli District and the Growth Development Director in the Asheville Office.  Responsibilities may include but are not be limited to:

Recruiting and Selection

       Execute district office recruiting plan to reach activity & productivity goals

       Build referral partners within the district office (FRs, specialists, management, and staff)

       Develop qualified lead strategies from all sources – referrals, COIs, community engagement, internet, advertising, career fairs, etc. to achieve referral and sourcing commitments

       Promote the benefits of district growth and recruiting successes within the district office

       Provide support to all leadership team members to facilitate the recruitment and selection process.

       Master information and language regarding all aspects of the college internship and financial representative career and each step of the selection process

       Review resumes, process online applicants and contact referrals to schedule initial interviews

       Conduct pre-screen and initial interviews of all candidates entering the process

       Assist in administration of selection profile tools

       Conduct subsequent interviews as needed

       Direct all candidates through the selection process and series of interviews with other district and network office leadership

       Provide clear communication to candidates for each step of the selection process both verbally and written

       Maintain supply of all recruitment materials

       Maintain integrity of the selection process

       Utilize home office supported software (Bullhorn) to maintain the candidate database and accurate records of prospects to ensure efficiency of the selection process

       Manage internship program to include screening, interviewing and selecting of intern candidates

       Create a fun and inviting culture that all new representatives, veteran advisors, and staff want to be a part of with Northwestern Mutual

       Work closely with Office Coordinator and New Business Specialist to maintain office culture and accountability. In absence of Office Coordinator, will assist in covering front desk responsibilities.

Accountability & Activity Tracking

       Maintain database of all recruiting & selection activity for the district office on a daily basis

       Report weekly activity to the Executive Director of Recruitment

       Attend regular (weekly, monthly & quarterly) meetings with the leadership and recruiting team

       Prepare activity/results reports for leadership team meetings

       Develop relationships with other Northwestern Mutual recruiters to share leads and best practices

Community Engagement/Marketing

       Develop centers of influence within the community

       Lead community involvement and actively participate in community clubs and organizations to promote Northwestern Mutual  

       Attend campus career fairs and maintain campus presence as needed

       Coordinate and execute any recruitment promotions/campaigns and marketing strategies

       Maintain active presence on social media platforms used by Northwestern Mutual (LinkedIn) to prospect and promote Northwestern Mutual as well as create feed lists as needed for prospecting meetings

       Assist in the coordination of special events as needed

Qualifications

       Bachelor’s degree preferred

       Two years progressively responsible work experience, preferably in sales, recruiting or financial services industry

       Strong verbal and written communications skills

       Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

       Strong organizational and time management

       Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with all levels of people as well as have a high level initiative to work independently

       Professional demeanor and presence
