Senior Human Resources Manager

Tom James Company

This is a Full-time position in Franklin, WV posted May 15, 2021.

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Senior Manager, Business Human Resources.

Using the exercise of discretion and independent judgement in the daily performance of the job. 

Job Responsibilities:
Directs the day-to-day duties of the Tom James Corporate HR Department in the Home Office Directs, and coordinates with, International HR Manager for Europe and Australia Provides consultation, guidance and coaching to supervisors and managers to address employee behavior and performance concerns, provide guidance and assist with the development and delivery of appropriate feedback or corrective/disciplinary actions Advises executives on impact to corporate policies and procedures, conducts investigations, compiles data and works with attorneys to determine course of action on EEOC or litigation situations, prepares for hearings and depositions; Recommends salary levels for positions; develops handbooks, mailings and other communication tools Provides training and technical advice to staff involved in company-wide personnel processes and benefits programs; handles non-standard issues Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws at approximately 90 locations throughout the U.S.

and provincial laws in Canada, the UK, and Australia Assists managers regarding employee issues at retail locations, factory locations, or Corporate Office locations throughout the U.S.

Interprets and applies understanding of corporate policy, domestic and foreign employment law, and other regulations to provide immediate advice, guidance or clarification for employee relation inquiries.

When needed, partners with counsel in interpretation of appropriate laws and policies and advises management accordingly.

Reviews departmental tasks for compliance with regulations; advises regarding necessary changes Assists with selection process for corporate positions; ads for positions or placement services; candidates for interview; interview questions and candidate selection Addresses and responds to employee Payroll, HRIS, Compensation and benefits issues in conjunction with the HR team Regularly reviews on-line resources and journals to monitor changes in human resources and benefits laws and trends Communicates HR law changes to other departments, such as wage and hour changes or leave law changes Implements International Employment Agreements, ensures adherence to legal requirements, and advises management on required actions impacting payroll for foreign nationals in Canada, the UK, and Australia Works with attorneys to maintain contracts in international locations Trouble-shoots any issues that arise regarding Tom James’ international presence Works with attorneys to obtain work visas as needed, and travel visas for semi-annual meetings Manages Marlene Hays scholarship program and accounting tuition reimbursement.

Helps plan employee recognition programs, events and meetings
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field; 8+ years of relevant experience in a multi-state, multi-site organization including 5+ years management or leadership experience Problem Resolution experience SPHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred Experience with International Employment and Labor Laws in Canada, Australia, and the UK preferred
Required Skills:
Strong working knowledge of state and Federal HR Laws Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within the organization orally and in writing Excellent follow-up skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing environment Ability to prepare meaningful presentations on complex issues Proficient skills using MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) Interacts with top management, all Home Office departments, retail, factories and international employees, management and vendors
