Job DescriptionHuman Resources Specialist (Code: 42A) (eligibility for this position is based on ASVAB score and availability at the time of enlistment) A human resources specialist is responsible for providing support that affects Soldiers’ overall welfare and well-being while assisting leaders with keeping Soldiers combat-ready and effective. Job Duties include: * Assist on all human resource support matters * Oversight of all strength management and strength distribution actions * Responsible for the readiness, health and welfare of all Soldiers. * Postal and personnel accountability support * Maintain emergency notification data Requirements * Requires enlistment into the United States Army or Army Reserve * Pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) * Be at least 17 but no older than 42 years old * US Citizen or Permanent Resident (I-551 Green Card holder) * High School Diploma or GED * No major medical or mental health issues * No major law violations (felony convictions) Training Job training for human resources specialist begins with 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and nine weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions on human resource systems. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Compensation Paid training Monthly salary (based off pay grade and time in service) Housing and meal allowance for full-time Soldiers 30 days of paid vacation each year, in addition to federal holidays for full-time Soldiers 401(K) type savings plan Full-coverage medical and dental insurance for Soldiers and immediate family members Low-cost life insurance (up to $400,000 coverage) Education Benefits (GI Bill) tuition, housing, and book fees for 36 academic months of college Tuition Assistance up to $4000 per year
