Position Summary: LifeMoves seeks a VP of Human Resources to join our executive team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working closely with the leadership of the organization, the VP of Human Resources will serve as a trusted advisor and a critical member of the executive team. The individual will have accountability for the people strategy for the Agency and must be able to balance the tactical duties with building an HR infrastructure to scale with growth and the strategic direction. This individual will proactively lead people programs to ensure a positive culture and brand to attract and retain top talent.

The VP will have responsibility for all aspects of the human resources function including, but not limited to; talent acquisition and development, compensation, benefits, workers’ compensation, employee training, organizational development, succession planning, DEI&B initiatives, and employee relations.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the Agency’s human resource strategy and performance consistent with the mission and strategy of the organization.
  • Direct and oversee the recruitment, hiring and onboarding process for the Agency; Diversify talent pipeline and recruitment goals consistent with the mission and strategy of the organization; this includes working with hiring managers to develop and implement appropriate recruiting and selection strategies/tactics.
  • Manage employee retention initiatives by developing comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate equitable compensation guidelines and structure.
  • Manage the employee benefits program. This includes making sure all offerings are competitive and cost effective and of value to employees.
  • Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization. This includes, but is not limited to team member selection, training, performance management and development.
  • Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner.
  • Responsible for leveraging technology and people analytics to monitor HR metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure a culture of inclusion where individuals from all racial and ethnic identities, ages, nationalities, social and economic status, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, religious, political and ideological perspectives, and physical and mental abilities are able to thrive and be engaged. Provide strategic and programmatic leadership for diversity and inclusion initiatives that advance diversity as a critical component of all Agency processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all EEO, employment, benefits, and wage-hour laws.
  • Ensure agency policies, procedures, and employee handbook are up-to-date and cohesive within an agency framework, and that they provide appropriate guidance to staff; ensure the creation of new policies and procedures as needed.
  • Ensure agency has a robust and inclusive management training program, while also ensuring that all agency trainings exist in a framework that encourages employee development and career progression.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and handle employee relations issues. This includes establishing trusted relationships across the business by working with managers to identify performance issues and develop and implement appropriate measures to provide employees the opportunity to succeed and to take corrective action where necessary.

Job Requirements:

Education and Job Experience:

  • BA in business, Human Resources, or related field; Certification (PHR/SPHR) a plus
  • 10+ years of proven experience in the field of Human Resources in a senior role; non-profit experience a plus.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation
  • Knowledge of California labor law

  • Proven leadership, management, and project management skills

  • Ability to use metrics and analytics
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and HRIS system management
